You can write controlled medication prescriptions using DoseSpot if you have EPCS Permission. You can access DoseSpot in ShareNote from the Client Profile and use DUO Mobile app as a TFA Authentication. Once you have added appropriate medications you can print or electronically submit the prescriptions to the Pharmacy.

Access DoseSpot
- Hover over the Managers tab in the navigation bar, and select Client Manager from the drop-down.
- Click on desired Client.
- Select Electronic Prescriptions from the Health section in the left menu.
- Click Open Electronic Prescribing System.
- Click Add Prescription button to choose the medication.
Select Prescription
Repeat this process for all Medications, and submit to pharmacy all together.
Step 1 - Select Prescription
- Start typing a minimum of three characters to search for desired medication in DoseSpot.
NOTE: The more characters you add, the better the search results.
- Scroll and select the appropriate Name and Type of medication from displayed options found.
Step 2 - Select Strength
- Click desired medication strength.
NOTE: If you chose the wrong medication in Step 1, click Change next to the medication name to go back and select appropriate medication.
Step 3 - Add Prescription Details
NOTE: If you chose the wrong strength in Step 2, click Change next to the strength name to go back and select appropriate strength.
- Enter the Effective Date, OR click Today to automatically populate the current date.
- Enter Patient Directions.
- Enter amount of medication to be Dispensed.
- Select Dispense Unit.
NOTE: This is preselected from your initial medication selections.
- Enter Refills allowed.
- Click the Plus icon labeled Show Pharmacy Notes to add any desired notes for the Pharmacy.
- Select No Substitutions if you don't want substitutions.
- Save as Favorite - Click the gold star to add this medication to the Patient's Favorites list for easy access in the future.
- Click Save Prescription.
IMPORTANT: If applicable, a Medication Interaction alert will display. Click each interaction button to show details and interaction considerations, making changes as appropriate.
Submit Medication(s) to Pharmacy
- Scroll to Pending Medications section. All Medications that have yet to be sent to the pharmacy will display.
- Click Action to:
- Edit the medication prescription.
- Delete the medication prescription.
- Change Pharmacy that the medication is sent to.
- Start Prior Auth for the medication.
- When you are ready, click the Select All checkbox or select individual medication checkboxes.
- Click Approve & Send to send Electronically, OR Approve and Print to print.
Send Electronically
To send Controlled Substance prescriptions electronically, you will need to use you DUP Mobile App to enter a two-factor authentication.
- Click the Approve and Send button and check Ready to Sign checkbox.
- Insert your PIN number.
NOTE: If you need to change your PIN, click Change Pin button and follow directions. - Open DUO Mobile on your Phone.
- Enter DUO Mobile code into field and click Sign & Send.
- Your prescriptions will be sent to the Pharmacy of listed.
Print Prescriptions
- Click the Approve and Print button.
- Insert your PIN number and click Submit.
- A printable version of the prescription displays in your browser. Print that and give to patient.
View Prescription Status
- View both printed and electronically sent prescriptions in the Active Medication section.
- Click the status icon to view prescription history.
- Prescription history displays.
